The Birmingham Press Club Ball 2009.

10 November 2009

Media personalities and their guests from business and commerce attended the annual Midlands’ Press Ball, held at the Macdonald Burlington Hotel, Birmingham.

The event, organised by Birmingham Press Club, was sponsored by East Midlands Airport and supported by Barclays Commercial.

Proceeds from the raffle, totalling in the region of £3,400, were divided between the Birmingham Mail Charity Fund and the Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance. The star prize was a week’s holiday for two in self-catering accommodation in north-east Corsica, together with flights, courtesy of Corsican Places, the UK’s leading Corsican holiday specialist, and bmibaby.com.

Other prizes included two business class return tickets from Birmingham International Airport (BIA) to Istanbul, courtesy of Turkish Airlines; two return tickets from BIA to Malta courtesy of Air Malta; two return tickets from BIA to Newcastle courtesy of Eastern Airways; two return tickets from BIA with bmibaby to Amsterdam; two return tickets from BIA on the Monarch network and two return tickets from BIA with Ryanair to Dusseldorf.

“We were delighted with the way that people responded to the raffle and thank them very much for raising such an amount for two very worthwhile charities. And, of course, our grateful thanks go to all those supporters of the Club who provided the actual prizes,” said Press Club Chairman John Lamb.
