Former Bbc Trust Chairman Sir Michael Lyons Is Celebrity Guest At Birmingham Press Club Event

Birmingham Press Club held a lively celebrity lunch at Hotel du Vin recently featuring guest speaker Sir Michael Lyons.

Former Birmingham City Council chief executive Sir Michael has just completed a four year term as chairman of the BBC Trust, the organisation’s governing body.

At the lunch, Sir Michael gave a speech about his time at the BBC and the role the organisation plays in the national life of the UK. He also took questions from the audience.

The lunchtime event was sponsored by Bournville College, which is opening its new £66m Longbridge campus in late 2011.

The event was the first time the college had sponsored the Press Club, but is due to sponsor another celebrity lunch later in the year.
